Dodgers News: Los Angeles To Host Boston Red Sox In 2016
Interleague play is something that has been part of baseball since 1997, and it’s something that excites fans because they get to watch players that they don’t normally get to watch.`
In 2015, the Los Angeles Dodgers are playing all of the teams from the American League West. That includes the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers, who the Dodgers have already played, as well as the Oakland Athletics, Houston Astros and of course the Freeway Series with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, which are all coming up.
Every year what interleague scheduling is based on division. A division from the National League plays a division from the American League. According to Gordon Edes of ESPN, in 2016, the Dodgers interleague games will be against the Boston Red Sox, and presumably the rest of the AL East:
In interleague play, the Sox will be playing teams from the National League West, hosting the Colorado Rockies (May 24-26), San Francisco Giants (July 19-20), and Arizona Diamondbacks (Aug. 12-14). They will make trips to play the Giants (June 7-8), Los Angeles Dodgers (Aug. 5-7), and San Diego Padres (Sept. 5-7). They will also have another home-and-home series with the Atlanta Braves, with two games in Atlanta, April 25-26, and two games in Boston, April 27-28.
The Dodgers will host the Red Sox in a three game series from August 5-7. That means that former Dodger Hanley Ramirez will make his return to Dodger Stadium for the first time since signing with Boston in the offseason.
While the Dodgers complete 2016 schedule has not come out yet, it appears that they will also play the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays in 2016, as well as their yearly home-and-home series with the Angels.
