Dodgers News: Matt Kemp Shut Down Indefinitely With Hamstring Issue
As he tries to make his way back from an ankle injury that’s sidelined him since mid-July, Matt Kemp has been shut down indefinitely with tightness in his right hamstring.
After not getting a hit in five rehab games with Class A Rancho, Kemp took his rehab to the Dodgers spring training facility at Camelback Ranch and supposedly was looking good swinging the bat.
However, already plagued with a hamstring issue earlier in the season, Kemp seems to have hurt himself again according to David Vassegh of AM 570 Radio:
Matt Kemp felt tightness in one of his hamstrings and has been shut down “indefinitely”

Kemp underwent off-season shoulder surgery and suffered a hamstring injury in late May but returned to the Dodgers, to only go down with another shoulder injury just 10 days later.
Sidelined since July 21, Kemp hurt himself being lazy running home and when he realized he needed to slide, he severely sprained his ankle. With four outfielders for just three spots, Don Mattingly faced a difficult decision, but at this point it sounds like the latest hamstring injury will shut him down for the foreseeable future.
Entering play tonight, the Dodgers have a 12 game lead in the NL West and if he were activated, Kemp could’ve been eased back into the lineup as October baseball looms.
It’s unfortunate that Kemp suffered another setback, but with three more than capable outfielders, the Dodgers aren’t in as bad of shape as many might think.
