Dodgers News: McCarthy Has Pitching Session with Dave Roberts | VIDEO

The Los Angeles Dodgers will begin a 4-game series with the New York Mets Monday, as they begin a 9-game home stand at Dodger Stadium. Hours before the game pitcher Brandon McCarthy was on the mound for a pitching session with manager Dave Roberts.

Roberts wasn’t the only person in attendance, President of Baseball Operations of the Los Angeles Dodgers Andrew Friedman was also watching along with McCarthy’s family.

From Jon Weisman, writer for MLB Dodgers Insider:

[McCarthy] threw approximately 40 competitive pitches in a two-inning bullpen session this afternoon on the Dodger Stadium mound.

“We’ve been doing this for a couple of months now, this progression through bullpens,” McCarthy said. “It’s a little less learning at this point, and a little more just trying to (approximate) Spring Training as we’re trying to get going.

McCarthy said that his command feels good overall, though a couple of pitches need more reps. If there are no setbacks, McCarthy would have another bullpen session this weekend, and then move to live batting practice next week.

The right-hander is one year removed from undergoing Tommy John’s surgery. Jon Weisman caught part of his session with Dave Roberts below.
