Dodgers News: Offense Apologizes to Kenley Jansen with Treats

Kelley Jansen is having a bit of a strange year for the Dodgers in 2017.

He is still rolling through the opposition as he boasts a 1.42 ERA over 19 innings. He is also posting a strikeout rate of 16.1 strikeouts per nine innings.

The oddity comes from the fact that he has pitched 19 innings but he only has eight saves. Essentially, this just means that when the Dodgers win, they have too big of a lead for it to be a save situation for Jansen.

In the Dodgers 9-4 win on Tuesday, Jansen pitched a shutout 9th inning but once again, it was not a save situation.

He came back to a note and some treats from the Dodgers’ offense apologizing for the lack of save opportunities they have been giving him.

In a cleaned up version of the note, it looks to say:

“Dear Kenley,

We are so sorry. We still love you. Accept these treats as a token of our love.

Love The Offense”

Kenley Jansen accepted both their apology and the treats that were given to him. It is something that a team playing as well as the Dodgers have been can afford to joke around with.
