Dodgers News: Prospect Alex Verdugo Wreaking Havoc in Triple-A

Alex Verdugo, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ number two prospect according to MLB.com, has been on an absolute tear in the minors.

Verdugo is currently playing the outfield for the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate, the Oklahoma City Dodgers. He possesses tremendous ability in the outfield and has a strong arm to go along with it.

Just turning 21 years old in May, Verdugo is way ahead of most players at his age. He seems to have officially hit his stride in 2017 over the last few weeks.

The lack of strikeouts is something that should be looked at. The Dodgers have been striking out more than we have seen in quite some time. A contact hitter could be something that the Dodgers really need.

The numbers that he is putting up are all above his career numbers in the minor leagues, making it seem as though he is nearly ready to take the leap to the major league level sometime soon.

LG LEVEL G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI BB IBB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS GO/AO
Minors 2017 PCL AAA 59 214 36 69 95 11 3 3 32 27 1 24 4 1 .322 .398 .444 .842 1.02

Alex Verdugo could and should be the next prospect we see rise to contribute to the big league club.

  1. It’s aboun time the Dodgers went back to their old way. Playing their own instead of trading away all their good young talent for proven over the hill washed up players. they got rid of Perez , Frank Howard, before their prime Davey Lopes, Paul Konerko and others, That’s why they haven’t won a world series since 1988. Now they have the best team with the best manager in baseball. He has made this team a great team, by giving the players with the best potential the opportunity to play.
