Dodgers News: Puig Staying Positive About Recent Struggles

Los Angeles Dodgers Yasiel Puig has been a hot topic of discussion due to his struggles at the plate and genius social media branding. On Monday, Puig wore a #PuigNotLate shirt followed by a #PuigYourFriend shirt on Thursday.

Puig definitely has a new attitude for this season, but his struggles at the plate continue to hurt him. Taking a look at his numbers, Puig is batting .234, knocked out four home runs in 41 games with a .278 on-base percentage.

“I just try to have fun and do my job,” Puig said through an interpreter to L.A. Times writer Bill Shaikin. “There are some people that like to have fun with me. I give them something.”

It seems he’s trying to keep a positive view on things using humor. He even partnered with Kiké Hernandez to give their bats electric stimulation.

Ironically, the joke worked out.

However, even Puig knows that won’t always be the case.

From L.A. Times writer Bill Shaikin:

[Puig] says he is working in the batting cage and elsewhere to improve his offense, as well as putting in daily work on his defense.

He hit .405 in his first 10 games, .176 in his next 30. His walk Wednesday was his first since April 24.

“There’s still four months left. The season isn’t over yet,” said Puig.

The Dodgers will play three games in San Diego before returning back home to Dodger Stadium for a series vs. the Cincinnati Reds.
