Dodgers News: Rich Hill on Perfect Game via MLB Network Radio

In Rich Hill’s latest start down in Miami on Saturday night, the veteran left-hander flirted with perfection pitching 7 scoreless innings with 9 strikeouts on 89 pitches, before being taken out by manager Dave Roberts.

Hill, 36, has been on the disable list twice this season due to a lingering blister laceration on his left index finger. Hill’s potential perfect game would have been the 24th perfect game in Major League Baseball history and the second perfect game in Dodgers history. However, Dave Roberts recognizes that winning in October significantly outweighs the risk of Hill potentially aggravating his blister issue once again and jeopardizing postseason success.

I’m going to lose sleep tonight, and I probably should..I don’t see myself having to make a tougher decision than this one. My best interests are for him and his finger.

Today Hill spoke with MLB Network Radio’s, Casey Stern and Brian Roberts and reiterated that his finger is healthy and looks forward to preparing for his next outing.

In regards to be taken out in the 7th inning during his perfect game, Hill understands the “tough” position Roberts is in to keep his players healthy, as well as, the teams position for a deep postseason run.
