The Los Angeles Dodgers hope to extend the contracts of Clayton Kershaw and Hanley Ramirez this off-season. Kershaw’s extension is on top of the Dodgers’ priority list, but it seems Ramirez and the Dodgers might be closer to coming to an agreement.
Ramirez is on his way back to Los Angeles and he might have some good news. He posted a picture of himself on a flight back to Los Angeles on his Instagram account. In the caption Ramirez writes “Back to Los Angeles…Good News!!!!”, which could mean he’s coming to LA to finalize an extension with the Dodgers.
Ramirez rejuvenated his career in Los Angeles after having issues at the end of his tenure with the Miami Marlins. He was the Dodgers’ best hitter this past season, hitting .345 with 20 home runs and 57 RBIs. He was very impressive in the playoffs as well, dominating the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves. In 16 plate appearances he hit .500 with one home run and six RBI. In the NLCS he played through a rib injury and it was a valiant effort although the Dodgers came out on the losing end.
Ramirez will continue to be a huge contributor for this ball club for years to come and hopefully he can help bring Los Angeles its first World Series title since 1988.
