Dodgers News: Ryu Possibly Not Back Until June
Two weeks ago, it was learned that Hyun-jin Ryu’s May target return date was seen as “unrealistic.” Now, it sounds like Ryu might not be back at all until June, and that’s something that the Los Angeles Dodgers are just going to have to live with for the foreseeable future as he regains his strength.
While Ryu did experience an uptick in velocity about a week ago, it was learned that he’s going to take some extra time in order to get fully ready for his first time back out on a Major League mound since 2014. Missing a year and a half isn’t easy to come back from, but that’s what’ll happen with Ryu now.

Ryu didn’t progress as fast as expected this spring, but that doesn’t mean progress hasn’t been made as far as he is concerned. He recently threw a 30-pitch bullpen session that saw breaking balls mixed in with fastballs, so it does appear that he’s at least closing in on possibly appearing in a game.
There’s still no word on when Ryu will make his first appearance of the season, whether that’s in the minors or majors, so that news will be relayed when it becomes readily available. For now, the Dodgers won’t likely have Ryu back until June. That gives him a half-season of impact, and that might be enough.

So what else is new? The spin doctors in the front office just keep building up the fans hopes instead of telling the absolute truth, which is that it looks like neither Ryu or McCarthy are going to contribute crap before the all star break. So that means that we have to rely on guys who outside of Kershaw and Maeda, have been pretty unreliable this spring. I do not trust this pitching staff. Sounds like the old Braves, Spahn and Sain and pray for rain. Since it does not rain all that often in LA, unless Wood, Kazmir, et al step up and be all they can be, we are screwed…..
