Dodgers News: Sandy Koufax Struck On Head By Andre Ethier Line Drive

Sandy KoufaxIt was a scary moment at Camelback Ranch this morning when Los Angeles Dodgers legend Sandy Koufax was struck in the head by a line drive off the bat of outfielder Andre Ethier.

The 78-year-old Dodgers legend is back as an advisor to chairman Mark Walter and has been in camp working with the entire pitching staff. Koufax was standing down the left-field line watching bullpen sessions when he was struck by a line-drive according to J.P. Hoornstra of the LA Daily News:

Thankfully, Koufax remained on his feet and only sustained a cut on his forehead. He was taken away on a golf cart to be examined by the trainer. According to Ken Gurnick of Dodgers.com, the Hall of Fame pitcher is doing fine, but is feeling a little dizzy:

Koufax had a cut but didn’t leave his feet. He told pitching coach Rick Honeycutt he was OK, but a little dizzy. Koufax was taken by cart to the Minor League clubhouse to be examined, before returning to the Major League clubhouse 15 minutes later.

Hopefully Koufax won’t have any lingering effects and will be able to get back onto the field to help the pitching staff quickly.

Dodgers Outfielder Andre Ethier had this to say according to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times:

After being taken to get checked out for further examination, Sandy Koufax is fine via Bill Plunkett of the OC Register:
