Dodgers News: Scott Elbert May Be Done For Season

MLB: Miami Marlins at Los Angeles Dodgers

The addition of J.P. Howell to the Dodgers bullpen is making more sense by the day.

Today lefty reliever Scott Elbert underwent a second arthroscopic operation on his elbow, which could sideline the pitcher for the duration of the season.

Elbert’s first procedure was performed on Sept. 19 to remove scar tissue in the back of his elbow.

It was thought he would be ready to pitch for the beginning of the season, along with the other recovering Dodger players.

Elbert was 1-1 with a 2.20 ERA in 43 appearances last season before getting placed on the disabled list at the end of August.

Rather than return to the minor leagues, 21-year-old Paco Rodriguez will likely be granted the opportunity to fill-in for Elbert. Rodriguez went 0-1 with a 1.35 ERA in 11 appearances last season.
