Dodgers News: Seager Named Rookie of the Month for June

Corey Seager has been in everybody’s conversations recently due to his high production with the bat, so it’s no surprise the he was named the Rookie of the Month for June! The kid has not only put up insane numbers to lead the team; his numbers keep him competitive with the best of the best in baseball.

Over the month of June, Seager has a .343 BA, 8 HR, and a .409 OBP.

The power that Seager has is ridiculous. Here is his first and most recent home run!

Now Seager’s next battle will be going for that highly coveted National League Rookie of the Year award! The only Rookie who can match his power is Colorado’s Trevor Story who has 19 home runs and 50 RBIs on the year; However, his average is a low .267 which pales in comparison to Seager’s .302. In the month of June, however, Seager owned all National League rookies. Alanna Rizzo broke down how they stacked up against him.

The competition is tough, but receiving Rookie of the Month in June is a great start in the right direction! Hopefully Seager can have an even better second half of the season to help his case for National League Rookie of the Year. The Dodgers’ last Rookie of the Year was Todd Hollandsworth back in 1996, so needless to say we are due! Congratulations Corey!
