The Dodgers are on the verge of playing baseball! (Kinda)

Spring training is a great time of year as we get to see more of prospects and the future of the team than we would during the season while also getting a preview of what might come to pass in the next months of an MLB season.

  1. From a Dodger fan since 1954, it’s a pretty huge bummer that for the 3rd consecutive season 70% of the L.A. Dodger’s viewing public will be shutout from viewing regular season games!!  Go Giants!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. It is a tragedy that most of Dodger Nation cannot watch the games. Fortunately for me I live in a Time Warner covered area. I really liked my Direct TV and think the service and GUI are much better. But because I am a huge Dodger Fan I signed up for Time Warner. The system is not as good overall as Direct but it works OK. One thing is I also get Pac 12 Sports so it has been great to watch SC games.
    Whoever decided to go with Time Warner should attempt again to get the contract done with the rest of the area. I work in Vegas and they cannot get the Dodger Network either….

  3. Tmaxster Yeah, seeing as how I’ve been so militant towards Dodger Ownership and TWC for the past 2 seasons, I’m quite sure that I’ll be switching to TWC sometime in March, unless of course a miracle happens!!  But, when money’s involved, it will never happen!!  My one and only reason for switching back is, it’s Vin Scully’s last season  🙁

  4. What I haven’t seen is why SportsNet LA has reduced the number of spring training games from 31 last year to 16 this year. I read in another article after this reduction with no explanation was announced was that 16 games would be broadcast on 570AM. So what happened? For example nothing happened today as neither the TV or the radio aired the game. I realize its spring but it would be nice to see how each Dodger player competes, improves, and who makes the team roster. All the whoopla their commercials spew don’t translate into a good product when they fail to air the games.

    How do you justify cutting the games in half? Was it a cost cutting measure? It would be nice if they had a statement on their webpage so fans could see why they see a replay on TV rather than the live game or they hear no game on the radio. This will happen 4 more times this spring. Tomorrow there will be no game on TV or Radio. 5 more games will stream live on the internet.

    Excerpt;
    With the Time Warner Cable – DirecTV dispute headed into its third season, television coverage of Dodgers spring training games will take a hit this year. Whereas the Dodgers aired 31 games last spring on SportsNet LA – the Dodgers regional sports network – there will be only 16 games aired on SNLA this spring.
