Dodgers News: Stadium No Longer Selling Yasiel Puig Merchandise

The ballad of Yasiel Puig continues for the young Cuban and the Los Angeles Dodgers. After being demoted to Triple-A amid false reports of storming out of the clubhouse when he received the news, he is embroiled in yet another controversy. In other news, grass is green and the sun is yellow.

After posting videos of himself and teammates partying to his Snapchat account following his debut with Oklahoma City, he once again garnered the ire of those in the front office. In the wake of this news, J.P. Hoornstra of the OC Register reported that merchandise with his likeliness or number or anything really will no longer be sold at Dodger Stadium.

Dodgers News: Andrew Friedman Comments On Yasiel Puig’s Snapchat Story | Video

Puig’s popularity with Dodger fans was never in question despite the tumultuous past few weeks as if you visit a Dodgers home game, you are sure to see denizens of people rocking the #66 jersey (myself included). Furthermore, it seems that Puig’s presence stretched far beyond the reaches of Chavez Ravine.

“A quick scan around Dodger Stadium on Tuesday revealed the enduring popularity of Puig apparel. As recently as July 2015, Puig’s number 66 was the 21st-most popular Majestic jersey in MLB according to data provided by the league.”

However, all the off field drama hasn’t affected Puig’s few performances in the minors as he broke in with a 2-4 day with 3 RBI’s in his debut. The Snapchat controversy didn’t seem to faze him either as he did this in his first at-bat the next day.

Only time will tell if we will ever see Puig in a Dodgers major league uniform again but if he keeps putting up stats in Triple-A with the bevy of injuries sustained by the team, he may yet earn one last chance.

  1. If the guy rakes in the minors, they have to bring him up to impact the lineup sooner than later. I don’t know anything about his attitude, but not playing him right now is ridiculous. Instead they use SVS, who just went on the DL. What a joke! Play the guy, win a championship this season, then trade him afterwards!

  2. DodgerBlue The minors, he is hitting a bit, through a few games, in the MINORS….Did you not pay attention to his lack of offensive productivity in the MAJORS…..
