Dodgers News: Team Acquires Two AAA Players

In the world of sports, there are minor moves made usually on a daily basis, but this one today involved the Los Angeles Dodgers. The team acquired two players today from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for cash considerations. Both players will be sent to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The two players are outfielder James Ramsey and infielder-outfielder Zach Walters. Both players are 26 years old, and both, as noted, will be sent directly to Triple-A where they will then try to get acclimated to the Dodgers way of doing things.

Dodgers Highlights: Reliving The 3-2 Win

From Doug Padilla, staff writer for ESPN dot com:

Ramsey is a former first round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2012. He also appeared in the 2014 Futures Game. The Cardinals traded Ramsey to the Indians for pitcher James Masterson back in 2014. In his minor league career, Ramsey is hitting .260 with a .355 on-base percentage and .420 slugging percentage. He has 45 career minor league home runs.

Walters is a former ninth round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2010, and he has appeared in 82 Major League games while hitting just .182. Both players were designated for assignment earlier this week, and both are on the 40-man roster.

As J.P. Hoornstra illustrates, subsequent roster moves were made in order to accommodate them:

The subsequent roster moves were putting relief pitcher Josh Ravin (broken forearm) and Andre Ethier (broken leg) on the 60-day disabled list. This doesn’t affect the timetable of either player, and it was pretty much a move that was always coming along in the future either way.
