Dodgers News: Team Releases Preliminary 2016 Schedule

2016-schedule

The Los Angeles Dodgers are still working toward their third straight NL West title, but fans can already start planning for next season.

On Tuesday, the 2016 preliminary schedule was released and barring any changes, the team will start the year on April 4 at Petco Park taking on the San Diego Padres. The Dodger Stadium opener will take place on April 12 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. After ending their season at home in 2015, the Dodgers will end 2016 with six games on the road in San Diego and San Francisco.

The annual Freeway Series is once again a four-game, home-and-home series with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim visiting May 16-17 and the Dodgers heading to Anaheim the following two days. For interleague, the team will be taking on the AL East, visiting Tampa Bay and Toronto in May, hosting Baltimore and Tampa Bay in July, hosting Boston in August and visiting New York in September.

Similar to 2015, the Dodgers will not face an opponent outside of their division after mid-September. They will not face a non-divisional opponent until the end of April next season. Unlike this season, the Dodgers don’t have a stretch longer than 20 consecutive games. They will enjoy at least three days off in each month minus June. Their longest road trip is 10 games in September, when they head to Miami, New York and Arizona.

Barring any changes, the Dodgers schedule is very balanced and adds some interesting opponents in the AL East.
