Are you ready for Dodgers Baseball on SportsNet LA?
Beginning in 2014, that’s where you will watch everything Dodger-related, as the team and Time Warner Cable have officially announced their television deal.
The deal is for 25 years and will pay the Dodgers anywhere in the range of $7-8 billion.
This season will be the final one in which Dodgers games will be broadcast on Fox Sports.
In the article is a reminder of the misery that many Laker fans went through earlier this season after the Lakers began its deal with Time Warner.
The channel — Time Warner Cable SportsNet was available only to subscribers of Time Warner for the beginning of the Lakers season. After some time though, other cable and satellite providers were able to agree to deals, bringing Lakers basketball back into the homes of its fans.
A similar fate could await the Dodgers with its new channel.
Again, Time Warner and its subscribers are the winners here, ones that will be able to watch every pitch of the 2014 season — guaranteed.
However, there is no reason to panic.
In good time there will be an agreement to bring Dodgers baseball to every other subscriber (DirecTV, Dish Network, Comcast, etc.) that will again do whatever it takes to satisfy its customers.
At the same time, Guggenheim Partners have exhibited a desire to continue making Dodger fans happy, and should be counted on to continue the track record.
TWC SportsNet was sold to other companies at about $4 per month, which is then charged to consumers. Expect SportsNet LA to be in the range of $5 per month.
