Vin Scully is synonymous with Los Angeles Dodgers baseball and that became more so when he announced he was returning for a 67th season earlier this season.

The Hall of Fame broadcaster is considered the best and is known for his player stories and ability to commentate a baseball game. In his older age, Scully has cut down on travel during the Dodgers season, sticking with all home games and some road trips. He missed the final series of the 2015 season with a cold, but many fans were expecting to hear his voice on the radio during the playoffs.

However, the Dodgers announced that Scully underwent a medical procedure on Thursday morning. It was a recommended procedure and the 87-year-old is resting comfortably at home. Scully was advised to take a break and he will not around for the Dodgers playoff games. He is still on tap to return in 2016 for his 67th season. It may be Scully’s last season in the booth if what he said in an earlier press conference is true.

The Dodgers begin the first round of the postseason against the New York Mets on Friday at Dodger Stadium. While Scully wouldn’t be on television because TBS has broadcasting rights to the NLDS, he would be heard on the Dodgers radio station, 570 AM.

We wish Vin a speedy recovery and can’t wait for him to return next season.

  1. “It may be Scully’s last season in the booth if what he said in an earlier press conference is true.” huh? This doesn’t even make sense.
