Dodgers News: Yasiel Puig Exits Game with Hamstring Tightness

For the Los Angeles Dodgers, it may start feeling a bit like Groundhog Day. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, Yasiel Puig left during the 7th inning of Thursdays game with the Washington Nationals after coming up a little gimpy after a ground out. Manager Dave Roberts says Puig injured his right hamstring.

Puig came into the game in the 6th inning as a part of a double switch and his first game action came in the 7th inning, which is of course when he got hurt.

Scott Van Slyke came into the game as a replacement as Puig went back into the dugout shortly thereafter.

Puig being injured is something that the Dodgers have unfortunately become accustomed to over the past couple seasons. He’s missed 19 games this year after spending most of last season injured as he appeared in only 79 games.

When he is healthy though, he hasn’t exactly been tearing the cover off the ball, hitting .257/.319/.379 with 7 HR’s and 32 RBI’s but has been playing much better after his stint on the DL before the All-Star break. Hopefully whatever is wrong with Puig isn’t serious as the Dodgers cannot afford to add another name to their already upsettingly long list of injured stars.
