Dodgers News: Yasiel Puig Works Out With Miguel Cabrera
Since it’s the offseason, we’re bound to see pictures of players doing interesting things in their free time, as well as getting into the “best shape of their lives”, and today we have an example.
Dodgers’ outfielder Yasiel Puig worked out with Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera.
If my Spanish is correct (there’s a solid chance it’s not), Cabrera said this is Puig’s first time lifting weights. I find that hard to believe.
Puig struggled through much of 2015 with injuries and has dealt with inconsistencies at the plate more than fans would like to see. Cabrera is one of the game’s best right-handed hitters, so if Puig could gain anything from working alongside Cabrera, all the better.
Then, if Puig could maybe whisper in Cabrera’s ear about how much nicer weather in Los Angeles is than in Detroit and how the Tigers might be going in a different direction having traded David Price this year as their season did not go as expected, it might really be something for fans to get excited about.

Or they could be teammates in
Detroit…:p
What that means in Spanish is that it’s the first time Puig gets into a routine working out with weights. While I’m sure that he’s probably lifted some at different times in his career, it’s not like they have state of the art facilities and gyms in Cuba or when he defected to Mexico. Probably realized that to reach his full potential he needs to get his body strong and keep a serious routine going. If he doesn’t he’s going to have a serious problem staying healthy his entire career.
