Dodgers Offseason Moves: Jensen, Lee, Reed, Schebler, Peralta (VIDEO)

It’s been quite a busy offseason for the Los Angeles Dodgers. And, as of last night the Dodgers have filled up their 40-man roster, so lets get you updated on all the latest Dodgers acquisitions. For a summary of all the Dodgers moves, check out our video above.

Earlier this month President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman made his first roster move by claiming infielder Ryan Jackson off waivers.

This past Monday, Friedman and General Manager Farhan Zaidi made their next move, trading for outfielder/first baseman Kyle Jensen of the Miami Marlins in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

This Walnut Creek, California native has yet to play in the Majors. He’s been with the Marlins organization since he was selected by the team in the 12th round of the 2009 draft, spending the last two seasons playing for the Marlins’ Triple-A affiliate. With this trade for Jensen, it appears the Dodgers could be looking for a little more than just outfield depth for their Triple A affiliate.

Next up, the team announced Thursday, the additions of Zach Lee, Chris Reed and Scott Schebler to their 40-man roster. Though projected as a right handed Clayton Kershaw, in the four years after the Dodgers handed him 5.25 million in 2010, we’ve really only seen an average prospect. But, his addition does leave open the possibility that he could work himself into the backend of their starting rotation.

Reed was the Dodgers first rounder one year after they selected Lee, and the Stanford closer had been fairly productive over the past three seasons, splitting time between High A and Double A and finally Triple A this year. It’s unclear yet whether Reed fits better in the rotation or the bullpen.

As far as Schebler, the outfielder definitely would have been snagged up by another organization if he hadn’t been protected. He’s started to carve out a pretty impressive hitting career thus far and with the Dodgers logjam in the outfield Schebler could become one of the teams best trade pieces.

But there’s more, late Thursday night, the Dodgers bolstered their bullpen by trading for lefty Adam Liberatore and Joel Peralta from the Tampa Bay Rays.

In exchange for the relievers, the Dodgers sent the Rays Jose Dominguez and Greg Harris. Peralta appeared in 69 games with the Rays last season and was 3-4 with a 4.41 ERA in his fourth year with the team. With the Dodgers, Peralta perceivably joins Brian Wilson as a setup option for closer Kenley Jansen.

The Dodgers 40-man roster is now full. Tell us which off-season move you’re most impressed with in the comments section below.

  1. I’m not really impressed with any of the trades or acquisitions made by the Dodgers new managerment personnel.

  2. im not impressed either why sign a 39 yr old pitcher when you say you want to go with younger players. if you can sign him why not bring hanley Ramirez back.going after a shortstop that’s 33 .another bad move if you look at the film of the games hanley didn’t do that bad of a job as they say.trading kemp is another big mistake then we don’t have a right handed power hitter. joc Pedersen from what ive seen cant hit major league pitching leave him at triple AAA. go sign someone like sherzer or lester if you want to improve the starting rotation.
