Dodgers Owner Magic Johnson To Yasiel Puig: “Don’t Blow Your Chance”

Magic JohnsonLos Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig attended Fan Fest on Saturday afternoon and apologized to the fans for his second reckless driving arrest in the last eight months. The 23-year-old was driving 110 mph in a 70 mph zone with his mom and cousin in the car, but had the charges dropped in recent weeks.

In his first season with the Dodgers, Puig became must-see TV as his aggressive style not only energized his teammates, but the entire Dodger fanbase. In a season that was slowly slipping away, injuries to Matt Kemp and Carl Crawford forced managements hand and Puig got the call from Double A. All he did was hit .319 with 19 home runs and 42 RBI and help the Dodgers to their first NL West title since 2009.

There’s no denying that Puig has become a star and he can look no further than Dodgers owner Magic Johnson for advice about being a celebrity in Los Angeles. Last night, Johnson was on the Arsenio Hall show and was asked what he said to Puig following his second arrest.

Here are Magic’s comments from last night:
