Tuesday: Julio Urias

Starting the series against the currently 34-41 Brewers is teenage super prospect Julio Urias.

After being a called up exactly one month ago, the top pitching prospect in all of baseball has been steadily improving his game. After a rough couple of starts away against the New York Mets and world beaters Chicago Cubs, his first start at home against the Colorado Rockies went a little smoother despite only going four innings. He has only gotten better in his subsequent starts as he has lowered his ERA from 10.33 after his start, to a now respectable for a teenager 4.33.

This isn’t the first time Urias will face the Brewers as he took them on at Dodger Stadium where he threw 8 strikeouts.

He has been on a tight pitch count all season and therefore has not made it past 5.1 innings in any start. If his last few starts are any indication though, the teenager will keep improving and growing more and comfortable at the major league level.

What Should the Dodgers Do With Julio Urias?

Wednesday: TBD

The Dodgers have not announced who will be pitching Wednesday night, but whoever it is will be going against Junior Guerra, who holds a 4-1 record with a 3.67 ERA.

To fill the fifth rotation spot in the past, the Dodgers have turned to Ross Stripling, Mike Bolsinger, and most recently Nick Tepesch. So look for the Dodgers to grab a pitcher from their Oklahoma City Triple-A affiliate to make a spot start.

Thursday: Kenta Maeda

Closing out the series in Wisconsin will be Japanese rookie Kenta Maeda. Maeda has had an up and down season up to this point, starting very strong before going through a bit of a performance dip. However, in recent games he has turned it back on (don’t tell Andrew McCutchen that though).

In his last start versus the Pirates, Maeda hit a milestone as he went out to the mound for the 15th time this season which triggered a monetary bonus in his contract.

Despite the inconsistencies, Maeda has been solid in the rotation this season for the Dodgers despite only carrying a 6-5 record. He holds a 2.91 ERA and 1.18 WHIP to go along with 83 strikeouts to 26 walks. The series with the Brewers begins Tuesday, with first pitch set for 5:10 PM PST.
