Dodgers Rumors: Dodgers Heavily Scouting Brewers Relievers

Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti made it clear that the team was looking to add relief pitching and they’ve reportedly been heavily scouring the Milwaukee Brewers relief corps.

Francisco Rodriguez, John Axford and Mike Gonzalez are the three relievers on the market, with Rodriguez being the most intriguing of the three to the Dodgers.

According to Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com, among other teams, the Dodgers have been the most aggressive:

“K-Rod is emerging as perhaps the most interesting reliever on the July trade market, and the Dodgers remain the team that has scouted the Brewers the heaviest in recent days and weeks.”

In a rotation with John Henderson, K-Rod is having a stellar season with a 1.14 ERA with 10 saves as the Brewers have completely flopped.

Axford has had a difficult go this season as he’s been replaced in the closer’s role and has a 3.63 ERA. Gonzalez has been decent against both lefties and righties, but the Dodgers seem to be eyeing Rodriguez.

The once unreliable Dodgers bullpen had an incredible weekend in Washington as they didn’t allow a single run in 9.2 innings.

White Sox reliever Jesse Crain and Twins closer Glen Perkins are also rumored to be on the market as the Dodgers look to add to the ever-improving bullpen.

  1. Leave the bullpen alone. We have seen what Krod does across town ever since he was instrumental in helping the angels win in 2002. Keep developing the young arms like Withrow and take your chances. Dodgers have a shot at winning it all.
