Dodgers Rumors: Justin Turner Likely to Return to the Dodgers with 5 Year Contract

According to Boston Globe reporter, Nick Cafardo, the Dodgers look to be the front runner to re-sign one of their most valuable players from this past season.

Justin Turner — The third baseman is likely to return to the Dodgers. Turner is an outstanding fit for so many teams, including Boston (despite having Pablo Sandoval and Travis Shaw). The Yankees are a good fit if they can move Chase Headley. The Giants have shown some interest.

What do Winter Meetings mean for the Dodgers?

Turner is arguably the best player left in free agency after last season’s amazing performance while Clayton Kershaw was nursing his bad back. We saw that the Cardinals had some interest, but that faded quickly and there really isn’t many other teams that have a spot for him.

MLBTR’s Tim Dierkes predicts Turner will return to the Dodgers on a five-year, $85MM deal after a season in which he slashed .275/.339/.493, totaled 5.6 fWAR, and set career highs in plate appearances (622) and home runs (27).

Let’s just hope the Dodgers can get this done quickly, so that we can focus our attention locking up Kenley Jansen as well.
