Dodgers Rumors: Kenta Maeda Drawing Interest

The offseason has progressed and the Dodgers still don’t really have a second starter. Sure, Hyun-Jin Ryu could theoretically step into that spot if he’s healthy, but we really don’t know if he’s healthy.

There was that long-haired blonde guy, but he’s now in Arizona pitching in a hideous new uniform.

Brett Anderson pitched well last year, but it’s hard to feel comfortable with a rotation with him as its second-best pitcher. The Dodgers are still working on trades, but as of right now, nothing seems imminent, based on several reports.

The free agent market continues to dry up stateside, but there has been a fairly popular Japanese pitcher on the market all this time, and per Jon Morosi, the Dodgers have their eye on him.

Now, the immediate reaction on the part of the vast majority of fans will be: “oh sure, another target the Dodgers will come close to signing in a future report when Maeda signs with the (insert division rival here)”, but the Dodgers are still doing their due diligence to find a solution in their rotation.

Maeda, who turns 28 in April, went 15-8 with a 2.09 ERA and a 1.013 WHIP in the Japan Central League.

  1. A RHP that’s 28, won’t cost a draft pick or trading away prospects. This is a no brainier. Welcome to the Dodgers!

  2. WTF stop talking about potential Pitchers (Trades and Free Agents) and Pull the F**king trigger already.  Don’t make us go into Christmas wanting a Giants or Diamondback Jersey. RIDICULOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Unless he comes in super cheap it’s just another ‘Fake out the fans that we are actually trying to improve this team’ ploy.
