Dodgers Rumors: Ryan Dempster On Verge Of Being Dealt?

The Dodgers have been seen as the front runners to land Ryan Dempster for weeks.

Having two quality starts since coming off the disabled list and set to start tomorrow against the Cardinals, why risk another start?

He is having a great contract year with the Cubs, sporting an MLB-best 1.86 ERA, setting his value at an all-time high.

The Cubs’ thoughts exactly: The time is now.

Carrie Muskat from MLB.com/Cubs.com reports,

Cubs acquire RHP Justin Germano from Red Sox for cash.

Coleman scratched from start, will be in STL in case Germano can’t make it. No Dempster deal imminent.

The Cubs trading for a starter (AAA) and calling up another to be in St. Louis by tomorrow says a lot.

Sounds like a lot of work if something isn’t very close.

What’s the cost?

WBBM Chicago mentioned last week that the Dodgers had an offer on the table of Garrett Gould and Chris Withrow for Dempter.

I can’t help but think this deal gets done by tomorrow morning, setting up Dempster to start for the Dodgers on Sunday.

We’ll find out soon enough.
