The Dodgers will begin the month of September with a three-game set against the last-place Padres.
The Dodgers are currently sitting in first place in the NL West. Still a game and a half ahead of the rival Giants, who will be starting a four-game series with the Cubs tonight.
According to ESPN.com, Julio Urias, Kenta Maeda and Bud Norris are projected to be the starters for the weekend series.
Urias, is 5-2 with a 3.71 ERA at just 20 years old.
He has won his last four outings dating back to Aug. 8. During that three-week span, he dropped his ERA from 4.88 to 3.71.
The Dodgers have won 10 of the last 14 games Urias has pitched in, including 9 of the last 10.
Maeda is 13-8 with a 3.38 ERA.
The Japan product, went 4-1 in five August starts, never allowing more than 3 earned runs in a game.
Norris is 6-10 with a 4.92 ERA.
After Rich Hill was scratched from the Aug. 31 start, Norris stepped in and went three innings, giving up six hits, five earned runs while throwing 66 pitches.
1. Rich Hill
Perhaps Hill will return the favor to Norris and take the mound for the 1:10 p.m. start.
Hill is 10-3 with a 2.09 ERA.
One month ago, he was acquired with outfielder Josh Reddick. He has since made one start for the Dodgers, a 1-0 win over the Giants on Aug. 24
Hill went six innings, giving up five hits and three strikeouts.
2. Ross Stripling
Another possible candidate is Ross Stripling.
Stripling is 3-6 with a 4.15 ERA.
The team has lost his last four starts despite a 3.25 ERA during that span.
He has pitched against the Padres twice this season resulting in a 1-1 record.
