After being swept by the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park last week, the Los Angeles Dodgers were looking to get the series started off on the right foot at Dodger Stadium on Monday.

The Dodgers took an early 4-0 lead that became a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning. Brett Anderson made just 74 pitches before being lifted in the fifth for Carlo Frias. The score remained 4-3 until the bottom of the sixth when Dodgers center fielder Joc Pederson came to the plate to lead things off. On a 1-2 count, the rookie outfielder sent a shot over the wall in left-center field to give the Dodgers an insurance run:

Not to be outdone by his friend and “protégé”, Justin Turner came up with two runners on in the bottom of the eighth as a pinch-hitter and delivered a three-run home run that pushed the Dodgers lead to 8-3:

For Pederson, it was his third home run of the season and for Turner, it was his first home run of the season. The Dodgers won, 8-3, to secure the first of the three-game set. On Tuesday, it will be a rematch of last week when left-handers Clayton Kershaw and Madison Bumgarner take the mound.
