Dodgers Video: Scott Van Slyke’s Walk-Off Home Run Vs. Marlins



Zack Greinke turned in seven innings in the latest of a string of strong outings that dates back to last season. Greinke walked away with a no-decision, keeping his 11-game winning streak intact and remaining undefeated this season in a game that featured plenty of anything you can do, I can do better.

At the core of it was Scott Van Slyke, who started in left field and contributed with his bat and glove. Marcell Ozuna tied the game in the seventh inning with a solo home run off Greinke and the Miami Marlins proceeded to load the bases with one out against the Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander.

With an opportunity to push the Marlins ahead, Adeiny Hechavarria lined out to Van Slyke, who made the running catch and threw home to nail Christain Yelich on his attempt to score. The Marlins wound up taking a lead in the ninth against Yimi Garcia, which set the stage for more heroics from Van Slyke.

Yasmani Grandal drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the ninth and was pinch-run for by Kiké Hernandez. Representing the tying run at the plate, Andre Ethier lined a single to center field to put two on with one out.

Van Slyke then delivered the knockout blow to Marlins closer Steve Cishek by crushing a walk-off three-run home run into the left-center field pavilion:
