In the midst of a four-game series with the Atlanta Braves, the Los Angeles Dodgers looked to extend their winning streak against the Braves to five in a row. Dan Haren, who was fighting for his job in his last outing, took the mound against a team he’s had success against in the past.

The scoring for the night started in the top of the second inning. After Justin Turner was hit by a pitch and Juan Uribe singled, Darwin Barney hit a bloop single to right field that scored Turner and the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Braves caught a break after a Tony La Stella single. Justin Upton hit a fly ball in between Turner, Carl Crawford and Yasiel Puig.

With all three trying to run down the ball, Puig came up empty on a diving attempt and the ball skipped away after bouncing off his chest. La Stella scored from first on the play to tie the game at 1-1.

With two outs in the bottom of the fourth, B.J. Upton, who had five career home runs against Haren, made it six with a solo home run to left field to give the Braves a 2-1 lead.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Dodgers had runners on second and third after a Haren single and Crawford double. Puig followed with a weak ground ball that was the second out of the inning, but also scored Haren. Kemp then hit a fly ball to shallow right field that La Stella was unable to corral and the Dodgers took a 3-2 lead.

Haren was pinch-hit for in the top of the seventh, thus ending his night. In six innings, he surrendered two runs, six hits, one walk and racked up seven strikeouts in his second consecutive quality start. Brian Wilson took over in the bottom of the seventh and retired the side with two strikeouts.

J.P. Howell pitched the eighth inning and got help from his defense. After failing to come up with the ball on what would have been a highlight-reel play for Barney, Van Slyke started a 6-3 double play on a bullet hit by Freddie Freeman.

Brandon League replaced Howell and got the final out of the inning after issuing a walk. Barney hit a grounder to Emilio Bonifacio that the shortstop charged but had the ball go under his glove.

Adrian Gonzalez advanced Barney to third with a grounder to first base and the utility infielder scored on a wild pitch that didn’t bounce far from Evan Gattis. Kenley Jansen entered the game with a 4-2 lead and earned his 33rd save of the season.
