Dodgers Vs. Brewers Preview: Hernandez To Make Dodgers’ Debut

[new_royalslider id=”274″] After taking three out of four games against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Los Angeles Dodgers start a three-game series on the road against the NL Central division leading Milwaukee Brewers. This game marks the third of a nine game road trip for Los Angeles.

Roberto Hernandez is on the mound for the Dodgers after he was acquired on Thursday from the Philadelphia Phillies for two players to be named later. Hernandez will start in place of Josh Beckett who is dealing with a left hip injury. The right-hander is 6-8 this season with a 3.87 ERA. In three games against the Brewers, Hernandez is 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA over 14 innings pitched. Two of those three appearances were starts. The Brewers lineup tonight is a combined 12-for-52 with just one home run and five RBIs against Hernandez.



The Brewers counter with Kyle Lohse. Lohse is 11-6 with a 3.40 ERA this season. In 11 career appearances against Los Angeles, Lohse is 2-4 with a 4.66 ERA. Nine of those appearances were starts.

As for the Dodgers, Adrian Gonzalez could give Los Angeles a boost offensively. The Dodgers’ first baseman has a career .333 batting average with three RBIs and two walks against Lohse. Not to mention, half of Gonzalez’s hits off Loshe are doubles. Hanley Ramirez is hitting .292 with one home run and five RBIs off the Brewers’ right-hander as well. Of those in the lineup tonight, Drew Butera, Yaisel Puig, and Dee Gordon have yet to face Lohse.

The Dodgers enter tonight’s contest with a three-game win streak and a 3.5 game lead over the San Francisco Giants in the NL West division standings.
