Hernandez reached on a perfectly placed bunt that scored Turner from third and the Dodgers lead grew to 7-2. Randall Delgado relieved Cahill and inherited a bases-loaded jam. Delgado walked Puig and gave up a sacrifice fly to Gonzalez and the Dodgers led 8-2 before he could get out of the inning.

Inciarte drove in another run in the bottom of the fourth, but the Dodgers held a comfortable 8-3 lead after four innings. Delgado kept the Dodgers off the board until they finally scratched against him in the seventh inning.

Ramirez reached on a flare single and it was followed by singles from Crawford and Turner, with the final of the three scoring Ramirez from second base. Will Harris took over for the Diamondbacks and retired the two batters he faced to end the inning.

After J.P. Howell pitched a scoreless seventh inning, Brandon League gave up a run in the eighth and the Dodgers lead was cut to 9-4. League was removed in favor of Jamey Wright after walking Jake Lamb to put two runners on with one out.

Wright recorded two quick outs and the Dodgers held a five-run lead headed to the ninth inning. Pedro Baez allowed the Diamondbacks to score a run in the ninth before he could finish out the 9-5 win for the Dodgers.
