Dodgers Vs. D-Backs Recap: Three-Run Eighth Leads To Win

Ryu struck out Nolan Reimold to start the fifth, which gave him 10 consecutive batters retired. Tuffy Gosewich ended the streak with a one-out double but was stranded as the next two batters were unable to come up with a hit.



The Diamondbacks finally got to Ryu in the seventh with a Ross double that scored a run and cut the Dodgers’ lead in half. After getting two outs, Ryu gave up an RBI single to pinch-hitter A.J. Pollock and the game was tied.

Ryu’s night came to an end after 114 pitches and Jamey Wright was called on to record the final out in the seventh. Oliver Perez relieved Anderson in the bottom of the seventh and got two of the three outs via strikeouts. Dee Gordon

After giving up a leadoff single in the eighth, Wright gave way to Brian Wilson, who stranded the inherited runner. Juan Uribe reached on an infield single in the bottom of the eighth and was pinch-run for by newly added Roger Bernadina. A slow Justin Turner roller to third resulted in both runners being safe as Aaron Hill tried to get Bernadina at second.

The Dodgers cashed in on Hill’s ill-advised attempt with a Gordon single that scored Bernadina to give the Dodgers a 3-2 lead. Hanley Ramirez followed with a ground-rule double that scored two runs and the Dodgers led 5-2 going to the ninth.

Kenley Jansen took the mound and worked around a one-out double to earn the save and put the Dodgers in position to sweep the three-game series, which concludes Sunday.
