PAGES: 1 | 2

With the Dodgers still trailing the Padres, Adrian Gonzalez tied the game in the sixth with a two-out, solo home run to right field. Puig made good contact and his reaction suggested he’d hit a home run, but the ball died at the warning track and his hitless streak extended to 20 at-bats.

Greinke had an easy inning in the bottom of the sixth to keep the game tied headed to the top of the seventh. Justin Turner and Greinke hit back-to-back singles with one out in the top of the seventh. However, both runners were left stranded.

Nick Vincent took over for Kennedy in the eighth inning. Kennedy went 7.0 innings, giving up just one run on four hits. After an infield single by Matt Kemp, Puig ended his hitless streak with a single up the middle to put runners on the corners with two outs. They would remain on base as Gordon struck out to end the inning.

Rene Rivera doubled to leadoff the bottom of the eighth inning and was pinch-run for by Cameron Maybin. The Padres didn’t benefit from the change however, as he was picked off second base by Butera. Greinke wound up getting out of the inning without allowing a run.

Dale Thayer kept the Dodgers off the board in the ninth and the responsibility to do the same to the Padres was placed on J.P. Howell. Abraham Almonte hit a leadoff single and it was followed by a Seth Smith walk.

Yasmani Grandal hit a line drive that Howell caught and threw to second for a double play. Brian Wilson entered the game and got Jedd Gyorko to fly out and for the second consecutive night, the teams played into extra innings.

Kemp hit a two-out double off the left field wall in the 10th but was stranded by Puig, who struck out. Jamey Wright relieved Wilson to start the bottom of the 10th and allowed a leadoff single to Will Venable.

Wright struck out pinch-hitter Rymer Liriano, but Venable stole second base on the called strike three. Alexi Amarista singled and Venable beat Puig’s throw home.
