Dodgers manager Don Mattingly and trainer Stan Conte went out to tend to Ramirez, who assured them he was fine and remained in the game. Padres manager Bud Black asked for a review of the play and replay showed Yasmani Grandal applied the tag to Ramirez while he briefly took his foot off the base.

With Nick Vincent on the mound, Turner collected his third hit of the night with a slow roller up along the third base line to reach with one out in the seventh. Yasiel Puig pinch-hit for Haren with two outs and extended his hitless streak to 19 at-bats as he struck out swinging.

Jamey Wright relieved Haren in the seventh and retired the Padres in order and the Dodgers still trailed, 2-1. Dale Thayer took the mound for the Padres in the eighth and surrendered the game-tying home run to Ramirez on a ball that reached the second deck of the Western Metal Supply Co. building in left field.

As Ramirez rounded the bases, it was evident he was still in pain from slipping in the sixth and he was removed in the bottom of the eighth; though the Dodgers have routinely replaced him for defensive purposes late in games.

Wright issued a leadoff walk to Yangervis Solarte, who was sacrificed to second base on Abraham Almonte’s bunt. J.P. Howell came on and walked Seth Smith on four pitches. Howell responded by striking out Grandal, then handed the ball to Brian Wilson.

Jedd Gyorko grounded to Miguel Rojas, who threw high and wide of first base, but Adrian Gonzalez tagged Gyorko and the game remained tied after eight innings. Andre Ethier hit a one-out single off Kevin Quackenbush in the ninth, which was followed by a walk from Ellis.

Scott Van Slyke pinch-hit for Wilson and he also drew a walk to load the bases with two outs for Gordon, who grounded to second for the third out. Rivera hit a leadoff against Pedro Baez and was pinch-run for by Cameron Maybin.

After Will Venable dropped down a sacrifice bunt to advance Maybin, Baez struck out Amarista. Baez intentionally walked Jake Goebbert and got Solarte to fly out, sending the game to extra innings. Ethier reached second base with two outs in the 11th inning, where he was stranded as Darwin Barney pinch-hit and grounded to short.

Brandon League took the mound in the bottom of the 11th and pitched a scoreless inning of relief to send the game to the 12th. Kevin Correia entered the game in the bottom of the 12th to face his former team and faces a bases-loaded jam with one out.

Correia got Smith to bounce into a force out, then gave up a walk-off RBI single to Grandal.
