Dodgers vs Pirates: Betting Odds and Predictions for Wednesday’s Game

The Dodgers and Pirates will play game 2 of their series tonight in Pittsburgh. The hope is that there will NOT be another wild event like there was on Tuesday when third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes hit a homerun but missed first base.

Tony Gonsolin gets the ball for the Dodgers making his first start of the year. Gonsolin has been on the injured list with a shoulder issue since the season started. Across his career, Gonsolin has been pretty incredible as a starter. He’s posted a 2.33 ERA and 0.890 WHIP in 14 career starts.

The Pirates will counter with left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson. The Dodgers have plenty of success against him in his career, putting up 37 runs in him in 14 starts. But Los Angeles has also struggled against left-handed pitching in 2021.

  • Pirates Odds: +145
  • Dodgers Odds: -175
  • Over/Under: 9

Predictions: The Dodgers should be able to pull away with this one, but it’s always a gamble with a guy making his season debut. Gonsolin is fairly reliable but is also coming off of a shoulder issue. Luckily for Anderson, Max Muncy is sitting out of the game today. He’s gone deep off of him twice in 7 at-bats.

The Dodgers do have Justin Turner in though, who has 15 hits in 31 career at-bats against Anderson. Look for Los Angeles to jump on him early and maintain the lead throughout the game in this one.

Over or Under? Again, the Dodgers offense is tough to predict. But 9 runs seems like a reach in this one given the lackluster Pirates offense. Take the under.

Dodgers: Should Mookie Betts Move Out of the Leadoff Spot for Now?

One Comment

  1. I have been thinking about this myself. It seems that following the pitcher is putting Betts at bat with 2 outs to many times. This is just as I have seen this. I think it would be worth a try moving Betts to the second spot or third
