Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Surprises Dodgers Fan with New Mustang

Marlene Rodriguez, a combat vet, Purple Heart recipient and big Dodgers fan, just had the experience of a lifetime.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Ford Motor Company created a list of US veterans and chose Rodriguez as the recipient of the first 2018 Ford Mustang. As she was telling her story, The Rock jumped in and surprised the veteran with a couple presents. It quickly grew emotional as Rodriguez said she didn’t understand why she was deserving of such fanfare.

“It was such a cool moment that all of us in the room will never forget,” The Rock posted on Facebook. “… When Marlene, stopped and just looked at me and asked ‘Why?,’ well that’s when I may or may not have gotten a lil’ emotional with my answer – in a bad ass manly way of course. Why? Because of the boundless gratitude and respect I have for you, Marlene and all our men and women who’ve served our country. Just a small way of myself and the good people of FORD of saying THANK YOU.”

Rodriguez was also awarded two tickets to The Rock’s Baywatch movie premiere in Los Angeles. After receiving the tickets, The Rock said he heard Rodriguez was a Dodgers fan. He suggested she ride to a Dodgers game in her new vehicle as the curtain fell to unveil the Mustang.

Regardless of the team he or she roots for, it’s special to see those in service honored and overwhelmed with such emotion. We all appreciate the work Rodriguez and others do for our country.

Could Adrian Gonzalez hit the trade block?
