Since coming to Los Angeles in a blockbuster trade in 2012, Adrian Gonzalez has been a fan favorite at Chavez Ravine.

The Mexican slugger from Tijuana appeals to the large Latino population in Los Angeles, and his work on the field has endeared him to all fans. One way that fans know Gonzalez’s presence is the song “Mariachi Loco” that plays when he walks up to the plate. In the latest ESPN the Magazine, Gonzalez was chosen for an interview and photo session with a mariachi group. He is proud of his culture and heritage, and has played for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic.

Gonzalez had a strong year for the Dodgers in 2014, leading the league in RBIs (116) and winning a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award. The 32-year-old will have to have a repeat performance this season, as he will not have Matt Kemp and Hanley Ramirez around him in the lineup.
