Adam Liberatore faced the top of the Angels’ lineup and got through unscathed, working around a one-out walk issued to Trout. Gonzalez and Kendrick opened the top of the fourth with back-to-back singles.

Then with two outs, Pederson hit an RBI double to score Gonzalez and tie the game, but it also resulted in the third out of the inning as Kendrick was caught in a rundown. Josh Ravin relieved Libertore in the bottom of the fourth and gave up a ground-rule double to David Freese.

Following Aybar’s line out, Cron singled up the middle, scoring Freese. Ravin issued a walk to Iannetta to put runners on first and second, however two deep fly balls ended the inning with the Angels back in the lead at 2-1.

After a miscommunication and collision between Kendrick and Puig, a fly ball by Trout dropped in shallow right field and he ended up with a triple. Puig was shaken up and taken out of the game following the play.

Ravin’s night also came to an end as Joel Peralta entered the game. Albert Pujols’ deep drive to center field sacrificed in Trout from third, giving the Angels a 3-1 lead before Peralta could get out of the inning.

Chris Heisey, who took over for Puig, led off the top of the sixth and fouled out. Shoemaker ended the inning with back-to-back groundouts. J.P. Howell took over for the Dodgers in the bottom of the sixth and retired the side in order, including getting a strikeout to end the inning.

Uribe drew a one-out walk in the seventh and he was the last batter Shoemaker faced. Cesar Ramos took over for the Angels and retired the next two batters he faced to end the inning. Chris Hatcher threw a 1-2-3 seventh inning to keep the Dodgers within two runs of the Angels.

Darwin Barney led off the eighth with a double down the left field line. After being moved over to third base on a sacrifice fly, Barney scored on Heisey’s RBI groundout to cut the Dodgers’ deficit to 3-2.

Paco Rodriguez allowed a baserunner in the eighth, but the Angels were unable to capitalize. Mike Morin closed the game out for the Angels by striking out the side, consisting of Kiké Hernandez, Scott Van Slyke and Alex Guerrero.
