Justin Turner Asks For Clarification On Cash Considerations

With free agency still in its infancy as several players ponder their future, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been busy making relatively minor moves to improve the roster and depth in the organization.

Thus far, the Dodgers most noteworthy additions came in the trade with the Tampa Bay Rays for Adam Liberatore and Joel Peralta. On Saturday, the Dodgers signed utility infielder Buck Britton to a Minor-League deal with an invitation to Spring Training and acquired Mike Bolsinger from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

While the Dodgers sent a pair of relievers to the Rays for Liberatore and Peralta, the Diamondbacks receive cash considerations in exchange for Bolsinger. Cash considerations being part of a trade certainly isn’t uncommon, but it led to this amusing tweet from Justin Turner:

After playing his first season with the Dodgers on a one-year contract, Turner is one of several players who are eligible for arbitration. Turner joined the Dodgers via free agency, which was made possible by the New York Mets non-tendering him.

The Long Beach, Calif. native provided the Dodgers with a clutch bat off the bench and a valuable backup who proved more than capable of starting when Juan Uribe went down with hamstring injuries.

Turner played in 109 games last season, which is the second-highest of his seven-year career and he set career-highs in several statistics. Among them were his .340 batting average, .404 on-base percentage and .493 slugging percentage.

  1. Keep Kemp. Resign Turner. Trade Ethier or Crawford. I would keep Crawford. Quit trading for OLD pitchers. We did that last year (Wright) and was a No Go …
Get a quality starting pitcher (Not Bolsinger) . Don’t worry about AJ – he will come back and be a little more productive than last year (Injuries)..Let’s get serious about a shortstop (Ramirez will move over for the right amount of $$)

  2. I agree with you forgues stop getting has beens, but we need a catcher that can frame the pitches and aj doesn’t do that very well. lets resign hanley hes 2 years younger than the other guy were trying to get from the white sox, just watch the films from last season and hanley really didn’t do that bad of a job as people thought.trade kemp then who do we look to for a right handed power hittwe, better keep kemp and trade ethier.put in a bid for sherzer orshields or hammel maybe even lester.because harens not that dependable. go big blue
