The month of May has not been kind to batters across the MLB. Los Angeles Dodgers Clayton Kershaw has been impressive all season, but it seems he is not the only one.
Pitchers seemed to have batters numbers setting the all-time monthly record in strikeouts breaking the previous record by over 100 strikeouts.

Five starters – among them,Clayton Kershaw, Jose Fernandez, and Noah Syndergaard – posted strikeout rates of at least 30 percent last month. For reference sake, only three qualified starters managed a strikeout rate above 30 percent in 2015.

Kershaw had more shutouts (3) in the month of May than walks (2) and racked up 105 strikeouts so far this season with only five walks. Below are Kershaw’s strikeout per game in 2016.
