Location Key For Chad Against NL Win Leader

Los Angeles Dodgers v Washington Nationals - Game One

“Got to locate. I don’t care who you are — you’ve got to locate,” manager Don Mattingly said.

TO STAND A CHANCE, CHAD MUST LOCATE
Chad Billingsley just might have a recipe to diminish his recent struggles. It could not come at a better time with Billingsley set to oppose Ian Kennedy, who looks to become the NL’s first 20-game winner this season.

Billingsley has gone winless for nearly a month-and-a-half; not winning since an August 5th start in Arizona against these Diamondbacks. In that outing, he allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings pitched.

Since then, Billingsley has gone downhill. He has made six starts, but only factored in one decision; a loss against Colorado. The Dodgers are 3-3 in these starts. Chad posts a 4.92 ERA in those outings. He has walked at least two batters in his last nine starts.

In his last two starts, he has walked more batters (6) than he has struck out (5).

Chad is 1-2 with a 4.22 ERA in three starts against the Diamondbacks this season.

He comes off of an outing at Washington where he pitched just 2 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on five hits.

KENNEDY MAKES IT TOUGH ON CHAD; LOOKS FOR 20TH VICTORY
As he didn’t already have enough pressure, Chad Billingsley opposes the aforementioned Kennedy, who is looking to become the Diamondbacks’ first 20-game winner since Brandon Webb did it in 2008 with 22 victories.

Kennedy is on a roll, winning his last four outings. His last loss came against the Phillies on August 18th at Citizens Bank Park.

In his last outing, Kennedy struck out 11 Padres in 7 2/3 innings en route to a 4-1 victory for the Diamondbacks.

He is now 11-1 with a 2.15 ERA in his last 12 outings.

At Dodger Stadium, Kennedy is 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA. On May 15, Kennedy’s latest outing in Los Angeles, he allowed a run and struck out eight Dodgers as the Diamondbacks won 4-1.

He opposes MVP-candidate Matt Kemp, who is batting 15-for-41 (.366) with five home runs and 13 RBIs in his last 10 games against the Diamondbacks.
