As the Los Angeles Dodgers hit the midway point of their season, their farm system continues to plug away. Within their Minor League ranks, the Dodgers have multiple elite prospects they are high on.

Among them is shortstop Corey Seager, who is in his second season with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, but first full season. According to Bill Shaikin of the LA Times, Seager has been promoted to Double-A Chattanooga:

Seager spent the majority of 2013 with the Great Lakes Loons and hit .309 with 12 home runs and 57 RBIs in 74 games. The left-handed hitting shortstop then finished 2013 with the Quakes, where he .160 in 27 games.

After getting a taste of the competition in the California League, Seager has hit to the tune of .352 with 18 home runs and 70 RBIs. Seager’s play has earned him plenty of recognition this season, including being named player of the week in May, earning a spot on the first half all-prospect team and a starting spot in the Futures Game.

The Dodgers selected Seager 18th overall in the 2012 draft and reportedly have refused to include him in any trade talks for Jeff Samardzija and David Price. His 6’4 frame has some believing a transition to third base will eventually be necessary, but the Dodgers have yet to show any indication that will be the case.
