It was a rough week for the Los Angeles Dodgers last week, with the team dropping all five games it played. However, they go into Tuesday’s matchup against a team struggling more than they are. The Reds have lost nine of their last 10, including three straight against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

They lost two in Oakland against the Athletics and three in Houston against the Astros, and they have also lost eight straight on the road. Alex Wood will be on the mound looking to end both those streaks and also looking for his first victory on the road since joining the Dodgers.

Wood has started four games since being acquired, with three of those being on the road, and he’s allowed at least three runs in each of those starts. His one win with the Dodgers though was against the Reds at Dodger Stadium, where he went 6.1 innings with three earned runs.

Opposing Wood is a fellow left-hander, John Lamb, who was acquired by the Reds in the Johnny Cueto trade. Lamb was on the mound against Wood at Dodger Stadium for his MLB debut, going six innings and giving up five earned runs. He did strike out seven though.

For the Dodgers, Yasmani Grandal is out of the starting lineup due to shoulder soreness, leaving A.J. Ellis starting his second straight game. Kiké Hernandez is once again in center field with newcomer Chase Utley at second base. Hernandez went 2-for-3 against Lamb the last time and he is hitting .381 against left-handers this season. Adrian Gonzalez homered off the young left-hander at Dodger Stadium as well.

Joey Votto was the only Reds hitter with more than one hit against Wood, driving in all three runs against the left-hander with a home run.

One Comment

  1. Dodgers won 5-1 but Mattingly is an idiot. Wood is pitching a great game and is in 6th inning, low pitch count and 2 out. He gets a man on with a 5-0 lead and Mattingly takes him out!! What a moron. So he puts in Hatcher and Yep Reds score a run and load the bases. Almost blew another one because Mattingly has no idea how to handle pitchers. I am disgusted.
