Recap: Andrew Toles Hits Grand Slam in 10-8 Victory Over Rockies

The Dodgers entered Wednesday’s afternoon game on a negative note since they lost the first game of the double header. Rich Hill was scratched late from the game and replaced with Bud Norris. The Dodgers were down most of the game, but then the 9th inning happened!

Let’s take a look at the highlights!

The Dodgers would immediately get on the board thanks to a solo shot by The Man, Chase Utley!

That wouldn’t last long, however, because the Rockies would put 5 runs on the board in the bottom of the first. 4 of the 5 runs came from a grand slam off the bat of Stephen Cardullo, who was celebrating his 29th birthday.

The Dodgers would try and stay in the game by adding another in the top of the 2nd thanks to an RBI double by Andrew Toles! Remember that name…

In the bottom of the third, the Rockies would add another run, really thanks to a couple of errors by the Dodgers.

Bud Norris’ day would be over after only 3 innings.

The Rockies would add 2 more runs in the bottom of the 7th thanks to a 2-run homer by Nolan Arenado.

Down by 6 runs, many Dodger fans had lost hope. Luckily, the Dodgers hadn’t! In the top of the 8th Yasmani Grandal, Joc Pederson, and Howie Kendrick all produced RBIs to make the score 8-5!

Then, in the top of the 9th, after an RBI single by Josh Reddick… something beautiful happened. Andrew Toles came up with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam to put the Dodgers in the lead, 10-8!

Kenley Jansen would come in to close things out in the bottom of the 9th and he would do just that! Dodgers win 10-8!!!

The Dodgers have the day off on Thursday but will face the Padres on Friday back home in Los Angeles! Be sure to follow us on Twitter to get the play by play! Go Blue and go Toles!
