Recap: Brandon McCarthy and Offense Struggle in 3-1 Loss Against the Rays

The Dodgers are playing a two game series against the Rays at home for the first time since 2013. They took the first game 3-2 thanks to a towering home run by Yasmani Grandal! Today they looked to get the sweep with Brandon McCarthy, who is coming off of a fantastic start in St. Louis, getting the start.

Let’s take a look at the highlights!

The Dodgers got on the board early thanks to some bad defense on the Rays end, specifically a misplayed single by AJ Ellis and a bad throw to second which would score Joc from third!

The Rays would strike back and take the lead in the top of the fourth thanks to a 2-run shot by Evan Longoria.

Brandon McCarthy’s day would be over after that rough 4th inning. He would end up going 4 innings and giving up 3 runs.

After that the game was fairly quiet, except for a few exciting moments such as AJ Ellis almost tying the game with a swing of the bat, Ray’s Logan Morrison making a catch in the seats, and Ross Stripling pitching fantistically!

The game would end with the Dodgers going out in order in the bottom of the ninth. Final score: 3-1.

The Dodgers have the day off on Thursday but will be back on Friday to face the Arizona Diamondbacks! Game time is at 7:10 PM PST so make sure to follow us on Twittier at @DodgersNation to get the play by play! Go Blue!
