Recap: Brandon McCarthy Goes Less Than 2 and Joc Pederson Homers in 8-4 Victory Over Pirates

The Dodgers are currently sitting one game behind the first place Giants after sharing the division with them for less than a day. On Saturday they played the second game of the series against the Pirates with Brandon McCarthy getting the start. Unfortunately, McCarthy would last less that two innings but the boys in blue still found a way to get it done!

Let’s take a look at the highlights!

The Pirates got off to a quick start getting 1 run in the top of the first, but nothing to brag about on their part. Brandon McCarthy struggled with his command and walked the run in.

The Dodgers would strike back in the bottom of the first tying the game at 1 thanks to a double play by Corey Seager!

The Pirates would answer in the top of the second with 2 more runs and that would be it for Brandon McCarthy. He would be replaced by Josh Fields and then Julio Urias.

After that, the Dodgers would put up a run in the bottom of second…

Then the third…

Then the fourth…

Then 2 in the fifth…

Then 2 in the sixth…

The Pirates offense would finally wake up thanks to a solo shot off the bat of Jung-ho Kang.

Josh Ravin would be called upon to close things out in the top of the ninth but would walk a couple, forcing the Dodgers to bring in Kenley Jansen to close things out! Dodgers win 8-4!

The Dodgers will look to take the series on Sunday at 1:10 PM PST with Brett Anderson making his season debut! Follow us on Twitter at @DodgersNation to get the play by play! Go Blue!
