Goldschmidt hit his second two-out double of the game in the bottom of the third, though nothing came of it for the Diamondbacks. Keith Hessler entered in the fourth and worked around a two-out walk to throw a scoreless inning of relief.

Bolsinger walked Castillo to start the bottom of the fourth and it led to trouble. Lamb and Owings both singled, which loaded the bases with none out. Ahmed’s sacrifice fly got the Diamondbacks on the board, and Peter O’Brien’s pinch-hit RBI single further cut into the Dodgers’ lead.

Pollock’s sac-fly made the score 7-3, and after giving up a double to Ender Inciarte, Bolsinger intentionally walked Goldschmidt to load the bases. J.P. Howell was the first Dodgers reliever out of the bullpen and needed all of one pitch to record the third out.

Seager helped the Dodgers offset some of the damage by hitting his first career home run in the Majors. Pederson improved to 3-for-3 on the night with an infield single, though he would be stranded and the Dodgers led 8-3 headed to the bottom of the fifth. Jim Johnson came on in relief of Howell and set the Diamondbacks down in order.

Juan Nicasio took over for the Dodgers in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a two-out double to Pollock, who then stole third base without a throw. Inciarte followed with an RBI single, cutting the Dodgers’ lead to 8-4. Nicasio prevented any further damage by striking out Goldschmidt to end the inning.

Matt Reynolds walked two, but also struck out the side in the seventh to keep the Diamondbacks within four runs. Luis Avilan allowed a solo home run and later walked Owings with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Yimi Garcia replaced Avilan and retired Ahemd to end the inning.

Seager led the ninth off with a double over David Peralta’s head. Seager then scored with one out on Alex Guerrero’s pinch-hit RBI double that extended the Dodgers’ lead to 9-5. Despite it being a non-save situation, Kenley Jansen came on in the ninth to record the final three outs.
