Dodgers Recap: Kazmir Solid in 5-3 Win Over Cardinals

The Dodgers and the Cardinals continued their series Saturday night at Dodgers Stadium as Scott Kazmir looked to get his game back on track, and he did exactly that. Finishing off the 5-3 Dodger win with a 3-run, 5-hit, almost complete game.

Kazmir started the game in style with two hitless innings, while the Dodgers hit into two inning ending double plays during the same stretch.

Things started to heat up for the Dodgers, however, in the fourth. Adrian González hit his first home run in over 70 at-bats for the first score of the game.

In the fifth, a no-out, bases-loaded situation for the Dodgers led to 3 more runs via a Corey Seager single and sacrifices from Justin Turner and A-Gon, respectively. González forced Carlos Martinez to make 12 pitches to him on the aforementioned at bat, and his night was over after the inning.

Corey Seager then continued his hot night at the plate with a solo-shot to dead center in the 7th to put the Dodgers up 5-1

Roberts gave Kazmir the chance to complete the game when he went back in for the 9th inning with 102 pitches clocked. But after recording the first two outs of the 9th, Kazmir gave up a 2-run shot, and his night would be over at 120 pitches. Kenley Jansen came in and recorded the final out of the night. The Dodgers move to 2-0 in the series and have begun a mini 3-game winning streak.

Alex Wood (1-3) looks to win his second straight game tomorrow against Mike Leake (1-3) at 5:00pm
